I have used viruses expressing LacZ (beta-galactosidase) in vivo and in vitro (mice and cells). The antibody anti-beta-galactosidase from MP Bio (56033) is the best I have used for western blotting. I use it on lysates (TNE+complete+phosstop) run on home-made 4-16% tris gels, or NuPage 4-12% bisTris gels, transfer to PVDF membranes, and block in milk. I use the antibody at 1:2000 and develop with HRP 2nd abs and ECL.
I have used the ab 56033 from MP Bio against beta-galactosidase on tissue or cell lysates subjected to viral vectors with LacZ (beta-galactosidase). It is the best antibody I have used (see Kjolby et al., Cell Metab september 2010).

In WB: 1:1000 dilution.
