VGlut2, Synaptic Systems, 135403
What do reviewers generally think about 135403 from Synaptic Systems?
Researchers generally find this VGlut2 antibody useful for detecting glutamatergic presynaptic markers in mouse and hamster tissue, including IHC, immunofluorescence, and Western blotting. It works in mouse olfactory bulb, hippocampal membrane preparations, and primary hippocampal neurons, with reported dilutions of 1:100 for IF and 1:500 for IHC/WB. One reviewer points out that IHC staining of axon terminals was specific but showed background. It may be combined with VGLUT1 antibody to label most glutamatergic endings.

I highly recommend this antibody.
Affinity-purified rabbit antibodies directed against the vesicular glutamate transporters (VGLUT2; Synaptic Systems, 135403) were repeatedly found to be useful for a subpopulation of glutamatergic endings for instance in mice (Michalski et al 2013, Figs 4 and 6) and hamsters (Härtig et al 2007, Fig 7) These antibodies might be also concomitantly applied with affinity-purified antibodies recognizing VGLUT1 (also available from Synaptic Systems) to simultaneously reveal the vast majority of glutamatergic endings.

I performed IHC with this antibody on 12 um mouse olfactory bulb cryosections to stain glomerular layer. Specific staining in axon terminals but there is background.
