AT1R, Abcam, ab124505

pAbmAbs reviewed the publication entitled “Validation of six commercially available angiotensin II type 1 receptor antibodies”, in which Bingjie Li et al. evaluated Abcam ab124505 against the angiotensin II (Ang II) type 1 receptor (AT1R) in WB. The antibody was tested using cardiomyocytes from conditional knockout C57BL/6N mice. AT1R expression and localization were assessed through receptor-ligand binding assays, RT-PCR, WB, and IF using antibodies from other vendors (although none of these were specific). The WB analysis of ab124505 is presented in Figure 1I-L. Only very narrowly cropped blots are shown. Uncropped blots are not available. There is some indication that the signal from ab124505 goes down in knockouts. However, this is not convincing and based on the available data and our rating criteria, no more than a 2-star rating can be granted. We encourage other scientists to share their observations.
