NFKBI, Abcam, ab7971

We generated a top 1000 list of the most studied and most published proteins and analyzed literature validation data for commercially available research antibodies. NFKB1 is the seventh most studied gene on the list. In Herkenham et al., Journal of Neuroinflammation 8:141 (2011), the authors tested antibodies targeting NFKB1 p50 by Western blot using tissue homogenates from wild-type and Nfkb1 knockout mice. The data for ab7971 are shown in Figure 3b, using 50 µg of mouse brain or spleen homogenate per lane. Abcam ab7971 detects a band near the expected size of p50 that is absent in knockout tissue. It also detects several bands that remain in knockout tissue. We have rated ab7971 based on the available information and according to the pAbmAbs criteria. We highly encourage other scientists to share their observations. This antibody product has been discontinued.
