NFKBI, Epitomics, 1559-1

We generated a top 1000 list of the most studied and most published proteins and analyzed literature validation data for commercially available research antibodies. NFKB1 is the seventh most studied gene on the list. In Herkenham et al., Journal of Neuroinflammation 8:141 (2011), the authors tested antibodies targeting NFKB1 p50 by Western blot using homogenate from wild-type and Nfkb1 knockout mice. The data for Epitomics 1559 are shown in Figure 3a. Epitomics 1559 detects bands at the expected sizes of p50 and its precursor p105 in wild-type brain homogenate (20 µg). Both are absent in the knockout sample, supporting the specific identity of these bands. We have rated 1559 based on the available information and according to the pAbmAbs criteria. We highly encourage other scientists to share their observations.
