EGFR, Abcam, ab52894

We generated a top 1000 list of the most studied and most published proteins and analyzed the literature validation data for the commercially available research antibody tools. EGFR is the third most studied gene on the list. In the publication Wen et al., 2019, Cellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology entitled Myeloid Cell-Derived HB-EGF Drives Tissue Recovery After Pancreatitis, the authors validate the use of ab52894 for IHC and WB. The authous studied conditional EGFR knockout in pancreatic epithelium during injury recovery. Pancreata from Egfr conditional knockout mice and controls was used as samples. Vehicle/tamoxifen as genetic controls. IHC for EGFR was used to demonstrate loss of epithelial EGFR after conditional ablation (Figure 9B); the antibody table identifies ab52894 for WB and IHC (Table 1). The study thus provides KO validation of ab52894 in mouse pancreas IHC. Figure 6D further provides validation in Western blotting as EGFR signal is markedly reduced by siRNA knockdown in 266.6 cells. Non-specific siRNA used as control. Information regarding dilution is not disclosed. We rated ab52894 based on the available information and according to the pAbmAbs criteria.
