EGFR, BioLegend, 352903

We generated a top 1000 list of the most studied and most published proteins and analyzed the literature validation data for the commercially available research antibody tools. EGFR is the third most studied gene on the list. In the publication Lopez-Garcia et al., 2018, BMC Research Notes entitled Validation of extracellular ligand-receptor interactions by Flow-TriCEPS, the authors validate the use of the BioLegend antibody for the detection of cell surface EGFR by flow cytometry in MDA-MB-231 cells (Fig. 2a). Median fluorescence shifted strongly downward after 72 h EGFR siRNA, confirming reduction of cell-surface EGFR protein. Scrambled siRNA and non-specific IgG-PE were used as controls. Directly demonstrates specificity of the fluorescent anti-EGFR signal for surface EGFR in flow cytometry. No information regarding dilution. We rated the BioLegend antibody based on the available information and according to the pAbmAbs criteria.
