We generated a top 1000 list of the most studied and most published proteins and analyzed the literature validation data for the commercially available research antibody tools. In this tour de force, Thomas et al. PLoS One 2012 demonstrate a strong cross-reactivity of Pab 1801 with P Bodies in the cytoplasm of several cell types, including p53 null cells and across a range of immunostaining protocols, constituting a major limitation in the use of this antibody for p53 imaging in the cytoplasm.
