Review of: SCARB2, Abcam, ab196651 by pAbmAbs Data Mining

Reviewed: October 19, 2026

Our team has carried out deep research in the published scientific literature to identify papers and reports using antibodies directed against human Scavenger receptor class B member 2 (SCARB2) and followed up by extraction and evaluation of the available data to assess its performance according to pAbmAbs rating criteria.

YCharOS is here conducting a large head-to-head study comparing 12 commercial research antibodies against human SCARB2.

The collection of antibodies was tested using MCF7 WT and SCARB2 KO cells in the applications WB (WT and KO cell lysates), IP (WT cell lysate) and IF (WT and KO cells) according to YCharOS standard protocols (see reference).

In WB (1:20000 ab dilution) ab196651 detected an intense band of appr. 75 kDa in WT cell lysate with no corresponding band observed in KO cell lysate. Bands of both higher and lower molecular weight was also detected. A band was detected following IP, this band had same intensity compared to bands in input extract (6% of starting material) and immunodepleted extract (6% of total unbound fraction), showing that the antibody does not deplete the antigen from cell lysate.
In IF (1:800 ab dilution) when permeabilized with Saponin a clear intense staining was observed in WT cell compared to KO cells showing. When permeabilized with Triton X-100 a more intense staining was observed in KO cells.
