Cathepsin B, Thermo Fisher Scientific, MA5-42576
What do reviewers generally think about MA5-42576 from Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Overall, reviewers report limited target-specific performance for MA5-42576. In Western blot at 1:5000, it produced a faint ~37.8 kDa band in WT HAP1 lysate but not in CTSB KO lysate, while an intense higher-molecular-weight band appeared in both. One reviewer points out that in immunofluorescence at 1:2000, staining intensity was comparable between WT and KO cells, indicating no apparent target-specific staining, and no putative band was detected in IP.

Review of: Cathepsin B, Thermo Fisher Scientific, MA5-42576 by pAbmAbs Data Mining
Our team has carried out deep research in the published scientific literature to identify papers and reports using antibodies directed against human Cathepsin B and followed up by extraction and evaluation of the available data to assess its performance according to pAbmAbs rating criteria.
YCharOS is here conducting a large head-to-head study comparing 13 commercial research antibodies against human Cathepsin B encoded by CTSB.
The collection of antibodies was tested using HAP1 WT and CTSB KO cells in the application WB (WT and KO cell lysates/30 µg protein), according to YCharOS standard protocols (see reference).
In WB (1:5000 Ab dilution) MA5-42576 detected a faint band of appr. 37,8 kDa in WT cell lysate with no corresponding band in KO cell lysate. An intense band of higher molecular weight was observed in both genotypes.
We highly encourage other scientists to share their observations.
