Cathepsin B, Thermo Fisher Scientific, MA5-35194
What do reviewers generally think about MA5-35194 from Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Researchers report mixed performance for this Cathepsin B antibody. In Western blot at 1:100, it detected an approximately 38 kDa band in HAP1 WT lysate with no corresponding band in CTSB KO lysate, but a higher molecular weight band appeared in both genotypes. One reviewer points out that immunofluorescence at 1:800 showed comparable staining in WT and KO cells, indicating no apparent target-specific staining. Immunoprecipitation was also problematic, with no putative band detected despite intense bands observed.

Review of: Cathepsin B, Thermo Fisher Scientific, MA5-35194 by pAbmAbs Data Mining
Our team has carried out deep research in the published scientific literature to identify papers and reports using antibodies directed against human Cathepsin B and followed up by extraction and evaluation of the available data to assess its performance according to pAbmAbs rating criteria.
YCharOS is here conducting a large head-to-head study comparing 13 commercial research antibodies against human Cathepsin B encoded by CTSB.
The collection of antibodies was tested using HAP1 WT and CTSB KO cells in the application WB (WT and KO cell lysates/30 µg protein), according to YCharOS standard protocols (see reference).
In WB (1:100 Ab dilution) MA5-35194 detected a band of appr. 38 kDa in WT cell lysate, with no corresponding band in KO cell lysate. A band of higher molecular weight was observed for both genotypes.
We highly encourage other scientists to share their observations.
