SGLT2, Abcam, ab85626
What do reviewers generally think about ab85626 from Abcam?
Researchers generally find ab85626 useful for immunostaining, with specific staining in wild-type mouse and rat kidney sections absent in Sglt2 knockout tissue, though high background was reported. Western blotting is less reliable: it detected an expected-size band in mouse and rat kidney homogenates, but also a weak band in knockout samples and a lower-molecular-weight nonspecific band. One reviewer points out that the antibody works well in immunostaining while they struggle with WB.

Review of: SGLT2, Abcam, ab85626 by pAbmAbs Data Mining
We share a literature review of commercially available SGLT2 antibodies evaluated by immunohistochemistry and western blotting using kidneys and hearts from WT and SGLT2 deficient mice and rats. Antibody specificity was also evaluated in human kidney (Hirose et al., Hypertension, 2026). The authors perform a head-to-head screen of a panel of eight commercial SGLT2 antibodies.
We have rated the antibody performance according to the pAbmAbs criteria, and we highly encourage other scientists to share their experiences.
The antibody ab85626 showed specific immunostaining in kidney sections from WT mice and rats (Figure 1) not observed in Sglt2-/- sections from mouse and rat. However, a high background signal was observed in both species.
Western blotting with this antibody detected a distinct band of the expected size using mouse and rat kidney homogenates as samples. However, a weak band of similar size was also present in Sglt2-/- samples (Figure 4). An unspecific band of lower molecular weight was observed in both WT and KO samples.

Works well in immunostaining. I struggle with WB.
