To reveal vascular basement membranes rabbit-anti-aquaporin 4 (Alomone Labs, Jerusalem, Israel; AQP-004) can be routinely used considering its excellent properties which also include a nearly absent background staining. Altered aquaporin 4-immunoreactivity was revealed after experimentally-induced in ischaemia-affected forebrain tissues of mice (Hawkes et al 2013 Exp Neurol – Figs 7,8) and rats (Michalski et al 2017 PLoS One − Figs 9,10) as well as following status epilepticus in rats (Bankstahl et al 2018 eNeuro − Figs 7,8).

I can highly recommend this antibody for IHC.
