Endicott et al., BMC Res Notes describe the validation of twenty-three commercial antibodies raised against Collagen. This antibody showed a clear and distinct signal when tested on pepsin treated tissue, where a clear pericellular staining was observed (1:100). In addition, the antibody also recognizes high molecular weight collagen VI in lysates from cells transfected with α1, α2 and α3 (1:1000). This antibody also recognized individual α3 chains when electrophoresed under non-reducing conditions, suggesting that the α3 chain may be the major epitope for this antibody.
