The manufacturer has withdrawn this antibody as it is NON-SPECIFIC for P-TrkB. It is the same antibody as Abcam ab81288 and also previously sold by Novus. The ab specs are EP1298Y
An email from Abcam/Epitomics technical support dated 18 November 2014 states the following:
We are contacting you because we have very recently reviewed our information on TrkB (phospho Y817) antibody [EP1298Y] (ab81288) which you have previously purchased from us.
QC checks are continuously performed on Abcam products. In this case, these routine QC checks detected a quality issue with ab81288. This initiated further testing which unfortunately confirmed a human error in the production of this antibody. We regret sincerely that this has happened and would like to offer compensation accordingly.
Here is a brief summary of the test results:
• Our peptide blocking studies show this antibody is being blocked by TrkA, B and C, and therefore is not specific to TrkB.
• Furthermore, there is no evidence that ab81288 is phospho-site specific.
• A closer look at the homology between TrkA, B and C in the immunogen region revealed that the homology is high. Thus, it is highly likely that the antibody has always detected all 3 protein forms.
We will be happy to send more detailed test results if requested.
Due to these recent findings we have concluded that ab81288 is not specific to TrkB (phospho Y817) and we have now withdrawn it from sale.
We realize your experiments will have been affected, and sincerely apologize for these very unfortunate circumstances and any inconvenience caused.
If you have used this antibody in the past, please contact me and I will arrange an immediate refund or credit note.
The quality of our antibodies is very important to us, as well as the feedback and data we receive, so please do not hesitate to share with us your own experience with this product by replying to this e-mail.

The antibody is directed against the PLCgamma phosphorylation site in TrkB.
We use it with lysates of BDNF-stimulated primary mouse hippocampal neurons in Western blotting.
It is very sensitive in detecting phosphorylated TrkB. The major draw back of the antibody is that it appears to show some cross reaction with non-phosphorylated TrkB.
It does not appear to work in immunostainings of cultured hippocampal neurons.
IF dilution 1:100
WB dilution 1:1000
Diluted antibody can frozen and reused in Western blotting.
