Rabbit-anti-aggrecan (Merck Millipore; AB1031) detects the main chondroitin sulphate proteoglycan (CSPG) in perineuronal nets (PNs) of the extracellular matrix. PNs are lattice-like coatings around certain neurons in the nervous system of various animal species. They are composed of hyaluronic acid, CSPGs and tenascins, and their complexity allows for numerous detection methods, but AB1031 is among their favoured markers. Altered labelling of PNs after experimentally induced stroke was reported (Härtig et al 2016 Neuroscience – Fig 6; Härtig et al 2017 Front Integr Neurosci – Figs 7,8).

I can highly recommend this antibody for IHC

dilution 1:1000, block with 1% BSA, use 4-8% Tris-Acetat Gels and corresponding buffer system. anti-Aggrecan antibody works nice in Western Blot
