This is a monoclonal[Y66]rabbit anti-desmin antibody raised against a C-terminal peptide of human Desmin. I have used it for western blotting of mouse kidney homogenate, where it worked nicely and gave the predicted band size of 53 kDa, although a high amount of antibody was required (diluted 1:50). I also used the antibody for IHC staining of murine kidney paraffin sections (diluted 1:500), where increased staining is seen in damaged podocytes in a mouse model of nephrotic syndrome. This is in accordance with previous publications of desmin as an podocyte injury marker in various kidney disease models.
